If you decide to drink less alcohol, it will change a lot about your life. In the end, there are many benefits to living a clean life, such as better physical and mental health. In fact, alcohol withdrawal can help fix some of the damage that drinking has done to your body. Getting rid of the habit of drinking alcohol is a process that needs a plan with steps to help you quit for good.

When you drink, bad things happen

Using the results of a survey of 12 and older Americans Nearly 133.1 million people, which is more than half, said they had drunk alcohol in the last month. It is the year 2021. Also, more than 85% of people 18 or older said they had drunk alcohol at some point in their lives. Nearly 60 million of them said they had a drink in the past month (that means men had five or more drinks, while women had at least drinks in a single sitting).

Alcohol can hurt a lot of body parts and organs, such as:

The immune system of the body:

It can be harder for your body to fight off infections when you drink. People who drink a lot are more likely to get pneumonia and tuberculosis (infection of the lung). When you drink a lot in one night or binge drink, your body is less able to fight off infections for a full 24 hours. Clinicians have also found a link between drinking too much alcohol and slow healing, injuries that don’t heal all the way, infections, and poor wound healing.

The Stomach

When you drink, your pancreas makes poisonous chemicals. These chemicals can cause pancreatitis, which can be mild or severe and is characterized by inflammation and swelling of blood vessels that make it hard to digest food. 3

Cancer is more likely to happen

The more someone drinks over time, the more likely it is that they will get cancer in their throat, mouth, breast, esophagus, voice box, liver, rectum, or colon. Even a moderate amount of drinking, like one or two drinks a day, has been linked to a higher risk of breast cancer in women. If you drink a lot or for a long time, you are more likely to get any of these kinds of cancer.
